“I love the translucence of watercolor, and strive for this purity of color in every painting. Hopefully I have imparted to the viewer, my deep appreciation of nature, and the world around us”.

Background:
Jean is a native of Alberta, born in Three Hills, Alberta, and attended the University of Alberta. Jean graduated with a B.Sc. in Nursing in 1951. She began pottery in 1969 at the Edmonton Potter’s guild, and subsequently set up her own studio in her home.

During this time she also set up and taught pottery in the Glenora Community League, and also taught beginning pottery at the Potter’s Guild. She sold her work through various outlets as well as craft sales. She no longer does pottery…

Another interest in later years was weaving, both primitive and loom weaving.

Jean began watercolor painting in 1994, attending classes with Eileen Rauscher Sutton, (for 3 years), as well as Frances Alty Arscot and Joanna Moore, and many workshops. She has exhibited in numerous Group Shows, and Solo shows at the Misericordia Hospital, and the Little Church Gallery in Spruce Grove.

Jean was privileged to be able to paint “En Pleine Air” on location in Cuba, Spain and Portugal with Gregg Johnson, as well as his Jasper workshops for a number of years.
She is an Active Member of the Society of Western Canadian Artists, as well as the Edmonton Art Club, and the Laurier Art Club.
