I was born in Cornwall Ontario.
The family moved to Greenfield Park, Quebec when I was eleven and it was soon after I starting enjoying drawing. By high school I know the arts would be part of my future.
After graduating from school, I tried getting into L’Ecole des Beaux Arts in Montreal, but my application was rejected as the school only accepted 100 applications out of over 1000. This discouraged me and I became a medical secretary.
I married George Young in 1971 and we moved to Edmonton in 1973. He installed the automation system for the CBC. We had two children, Aubrey and Jesse. Aubrey is now a singer and has a boy band and a girl band. Jesse is now a tattoo artist.
In 1985 I enrolled at Grant McEwan College in the two year Display and Visual Presentation program. I worked for over 15 years as a Display Artist at Woodward’s, Eaton’s and The Bay.
In 1992 I lost my husband to cancer.
In 1996 I married Robert Septou, a computer systems analyst who had also lost his wife to cancer. Robert has been very supportive of me pursuing my art.
Hooray, I retired in 2007 and have all the time in the world to paint. I’m planning to paint the rest of my life and to take all kinds of courses in the future. I’m currently painting in acrylic but want to try watercolor. I want to experiment with different styles. I love abstract, realism and even cubism.
As an Edmonton Art Club member, I welcome constructive criticism of my work and I hope to make friends with fellow artists and enjoy their wonderful creations. One day I hope to sell a painting or 2 at our art shows.
