Background: Growing up in the Rocky Mountains my love of art began at a very early age. I could sit for hours concentrating on a single drawing. Surrounded by the tall peaks of the Lizard Range there was no end of inspiration & there were many people with whom I could also share this love of art. Before the internet, there were fewer resources available for people living in a isolated area and so at the age of twelve I found it comforting to belong to a group of local artists. I was the youngest member of the group for many years until I left home to pursue post secondary schooling at the University of Lethbridge.

Education: While in Lethbridge I took as many art courses as I could and soaked up the atmosphere of the wonderful art community there. As a student in the Bachelor of Arts program I participated in several art shows around the city, travelled & spent many hours painting or studying artists.

Courses included printmaking, drawing, pottery, oil painting, and sculpture. The coulees of the area were a distinct contrast from the mountains surrounding my hometown but just as inspiring.

After university I focused on a career in the public school system which for many years was very gratifying although it didn’t afford me any time to paint. Besides teaching the basics I was able to pass on my love of Art to many students. Two years ago, due to health problems, I hesitantly left the teaching profession.

Now I am getting back to painting for my own enjoyment & pleasure. Recently, I have even discovered & been accepted into the Edmonton Art Club thanks to fellow artist Rose Odynski. I look forward to developing my skills further and making many great contacts.
